Police Rescue 36 Abducted Victims After Gun Battle With Bandits In Kebbi

The spokesperson of the command, SP Nafiu Abubakar, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, December 9, 2024, said the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, commended the operatives for displaying bravery and professionalism.

Men of the Kebbi State Police Command have rescued 36 victims abducted by bandits in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area of the state.
 
The spokesperson of the command, SP Nafiu Abubakar, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday, December 9, 2024, said the State Commissioner of Police, CP Bello Sani, commended the operatives for displaying bravery and professionalism.
 
"In it's sustained onslaught against banditry and other heinous crimes in the State, on the 8th December, 2024 at about 1800hrs, gunmen in their large numbers barricaded Mairairai/Bena road in Danko/Wasagu LGA and kidnapped Thirty Six (36) people who were coming back from their respective farms.
 
"On receipt of the report, a combined team of the Police, Army and vigilante swiftly mobilized to the scene and engaged the bandits in a gun duel, overpowered them, forcing the bandits to escaped into the forest with gunshot wounds and successfully rescued all the Thirty Six (36) victims unhurt. They have since been reunited with their families.
 
"In view of the above tremendous achievement recorded by the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani commended their bravery, resilience and professionalism and urged them to be more committed in not making Kebbi State a safe heaven for criminals.
 
“The CP equally charged the Police and other security agencies operating in the area to intensify synergy among them with a view to decisively deal with the bandits and other unscrupulous elements.”
