Police Arrest 22-Year-Old Suspect For Burglary, Theft in Ogun (Photo)

Police officers in Ogun state have arrested a 22-year-old man identified as John Odeh for alleged theft of a motorcycle and other valuables worth N266,000 in the Odeda area of the state.

The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola confirmed this on Monday, stating that the chairman of the community reported the matter to the command.
 
Odutola noted that upon receiving the information, detectives were dispatched to the scene. During questioning, the suspect confessed to breaking into the homes of Friday Clement and Ode Daniel, both 22 years old and from the same village, to steal the items.
 
Items recovered include a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with registration number ABG 691 VC, two bags containing clothes, a power bank, and a pair of shoes.
 
Odutola said: “On December 15, 2024, at about 7:00 PM, Ogundele Muyiwa, a 54-year-old Community Development Association (CDA) chairman of Araromi Idera Village in Odeda, reported to the station with fellow residents.

“He stated that earlier, around 5:00 PM, one John Odeh, a 22-year-old from Alabata Road, was apprehended while riding a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle (registration number ABG 691 VC).

“Odeh was found in possession of two bags containing clothes, a power bank, and a pair of shoes.”
 
According to Odutola, the suspect is being held by the police, and additional investigations are ongoing.
 
In another development, operatives of the Ago-Iwoye Division arrested a scavenger identified as Bashiru Rabiu for tampering with and stealing window grilles.
 
The suspect was caught by a resident of the community, Abdulrahman Rasheed, at about 11:00 AM on Sunday while tampering with window grilles in an empty house along Odiolowo Street, Abobi, in Ago-Iwoye.
 
Upon raising an alarm, the suspect fled toward his boss’s shop, Bashiru Muhammad’s scavenger shop, where he was chased by the crowd before the police were alerted.
 
The Divisional Police Officer of the Ago-Iwoye Division responded swiftly, recovering the stolen items and taking the suspect to the station for further investigation.
