Ondo Farmer Sentenced To One-year Imprisonment For Stealing And Damaging Phone

Chief Magistrate Festus Akinlolu convicted Onah after he pleaded guilty to two counts of theft and malicious damage.

A 23-year-old farmer, Godwin Onah has been sentenced to one-year imprisonment by a Chief Magistrates Court in Odigbo, Ondo State for the theft of a mobile phone.

The prosecutor, Inspector Usifoh James, had informed the court that the defendant had stolen and willfully damaged a Tecno Spark 8 handset valued at N150,000, belonging to one James Femi.

The offence violates Section 390 (9) and 451 of the Criminal Code, Cap 37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

Inspector Usifoh said that there was no need for further proof, as the defendant's statement clearly showed his guilt.

The Chief Magistrate sentenced Onah to one-year imprisonment for each of the two counts, with the sentences to run concurrently.
