A 15-year-old hearing-impaired female student of Nasarawa State Special Needs Education Secondary School, Lafia has been reported dead in a tragic road accident.
Hauwa Isah was crushed by a vehicle after she fell off a motorcycle while going to school on Thursday morning, January 30, 2025.
The student was rushed to the Federal University Teaching Hospital, Lafia for medical attention where she died.
A staff of the school who confirmed the incident to Nasarawa Mirror said she has since been buried according to Islamic rites.
The staff blamed the incident on the lack of an operational vehicle to convey the special needs students to and fro.
He appealed to the State Government to provide vehicles for the school to ensure the safety of students.
The staff who decried the dilapidated state of the school also appealed to the Government to consider relocating them to a Comprehensive Special School which is well-equipped with state-of-the-art facilities.
