It was gathered that over 30 people are believed to have been killed so far and several houses destroyed.

At least six members, including the pastor of The Lords Chosen Church, Nkaleha in Ebonyi state have been killed by suspected herdsmen.

The incident happened last week Sunday.

The herdsmen didn't spare people in churches, as many of the Lords Chosen worshippers were butchered.

It was gathered that over 30 people are believed to have been killed so far and several houses destroyed.

Reacting, the youth wing of apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide expressed outrage over the murder of scores of people in Ebonyi State community by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

A viral video in circulation shows dead bodies littering the scene, with villagers wailing uncontrollably.

Village sources said the killing was carried out by herders in retaliation for alleged killing of their cattle.

Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has already condemned the incident, which he blamed on strangers.

Reacting on Tuesday, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike said those behind the horrific attack must be made to face justice.

Okwu, while describing the killing as “unwarranted, mindless and provocative”, noted that the only that would assuage the anger of Ndigbo was the arrest of the perpetrators and adequate justice.

He said, “we are sad that the marauding bandits who disguise as herdsmen are back in our communities.

“This is totally unacceptable and the perpetrators of this heinous crime must not be allowed to go scot-free.

“Whowever they are, wherever they are, the security agencies must go after them and make them account for their deadly mission.

“Our hearts are full of sorrow and pain that our men and women were cut short in their prime for no fault of theirs, except the fact that they are citizens of the entity called Nigeria.

“Never again shall the blood of our people be spilled and the perpetrators will be allowed to roam the streets; the police must go after them and ensure justice for the families of the victims.”

Meanwhile, Okwu berated the Ebonyi governor for describing the assailants as ‘strangers’.

According to him, “it is cowardice for the governor to say strangers were behind the mayhem in his state. Why not call a spade by its name? Who is he afraid of?

“We must warn our political leaders to stop playing politics with the lives of our people.

“They swore an oath to protect the people they are governing, and failure to secure our people is inexcusable.”

“The governor should show leadership by making sure that the perpetrators, who of course are not spirits, are fished out in the next possible time,” Okwu concluded.

The Igbo group also demanded adequate compensation for the families of the victims.
