Nigerian Polytechnic Student Killed During Violent Lodge Attack In Nasarawa

A part-time student of the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa (FPN), Ibrahim Matthew, has been brutally murdered in his lodge following a violent altercation with a friend.

The man was brutally murdered in his lodge following a violent altercation with a friend.

This was confirmed in a statement on Friday by the Nasarawa State Police Command, signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Ramhan Nansel.

According to the statement, the tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, at a residence behind ECWA Peace College, Shagari Road, Nasarawa.

“ A report was lodged at the Nasarawa Division at about 2:00 a.m. by Mercy Bassey, a female resident of the lodge.

“The report indicated that a fight had broken out between one of her tenants and his friend, leading to a violent confrontation,”
the statement reads in part.

The statement further revealed that swift police action led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as John Gambo, an ND2 student from the Banking and Finance Department of the same institution.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to the crime.

“He admitted to attacking the deceased with both an axe and a knife. Both weapons have been recovered as evidence.”


The Commissioner of Police has directed that the case be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.
