At least two people have been confirmed dead after a plane crashed into multiple vehicles on a busy roadway in Brazil.

This was announced by the Brazilian fire department spokesperson after two bodies were found in the wreckage of the aircraft.

The damaged plane was a small twin-engine Beech F90 King Air which was crashed on Marques de Sao Vicente Avenue in Barra Funda at around 7.20am local time.

Images and video footage show a bus on fire in the aftermath, according to SkyNews.

It was gathered that the aircraft had earlier left Campo de Marte Airport, the Brazilian television news channel reported. The control tower lost contact with the plane minutes later.

The plane was heading to the city of Porto Alegre in the southern Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, according to the broadcaster.

The cause of the crash is being investigated.

A similar plane accident happened on December 25, 2024, when Azerbaijan Airlines flight carrying 105 passengers and crew crashed in Kazakhstan, erupting into a massive fireball upon impact.

The ill-fated plane was en route from Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, to Grozny, Russia, when it reportedly encountered difficulties.

The aircraft went down while attempting an emergency landing, igniting upon contact with the ground. Thick black smoke billowed into the sky as flames engulfed the wreckage.
