Lukman Aliyu, a 20-year-old man, has been arrested by the Niger State Police Command.
He was arrested for allegedly defiling a six-year-old girl in Ibeto, Magama Local Government Area of the state.
The police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, said that on January 30, 2025, at about 5:30 pm, a report was made at Ibeto Police Outstation, under Nasko Division, that on January 29, 2025, at about 2 pm, a six-year-old girl arrived home from school with suspected bloodstains on her body.
Upon questioning, she explained that Lukman Aliyu had defiled her in a nearby bush as she walked home from school.
The suspect, immediately arrested, allegedly confessed to the crime.
The victim was taken to General Hospital Nasko for medical attention.
The police also arrested Genesis Yaryok Sunday, 27, from Ungwar-Gwari, Sabon-Wuse, Tafa Local Government Area, for abducting his neighbour’s six-year-old son.
The boy was found in the Jere area of Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, a few hours later, at around 3 pm.
He was taken to the nearest police station and later handed over to the Tafa Division of the Niger State Police Command.
“During the investigation, the police arrested Genesis Yaryok Sunday, a neighbour of the victim’s family, in connection with the kidnapping,” Abiodun said.
Sunday reportedly confessed to abducting the boy and taking him to Idah, on the Kaduna road, where he intended to demand a ransom of N200,000 from the boy’s mother to settle his debts.
The two suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Minna for further investigation.
