Commotion As Truck Crushes Trader To Death; Motorcyclist Injured In Ondo

The commercial motorcyclist whose identity was yet to be ascertained was said to have sustained serious injuries.

In what will come across as a really heartbreaking development, a middle-aged man has been crushed to death by a truck on Ondo Road, Akure South South Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The deceased, popularly known as ‘Daddy Ese,’ who was a passenger on a commercial motorcycle, died after the truck rammed into the motorcycle he was riding at Opa Junction within the Best Solution Polytechnic axis.

The commercial motorcyclist whose identity was yet to be ascertained was said to have sustained serious injuries.

According to sources, the deceased was a furniture trader at the plank market on Agagu Road, Akure.

It was gathered that the truck was at high speed before the fatal accident occurred.

One of the sources added that it took the efforts of road users and some military personnel to force the driver of the truck to a stop, after they gave him a hot pursuit for fleeing the scene.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of commercial motorcyclists, Adebowale branch, Monday Desmond, urged the authorities to dualise the road as it has claimed the lives of lots of road users.

While appealing to road users to always drive carefully, particularly on narrow roads, Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, Ondo State, Samuel Ibitoye, stated that anyone caught would be made to face the law.
