Ogun State Government Offers Official Statement Over the Itoku Building Collapse

The government of Ogun State, South-western part of Nigeria has issued an official statement concerning the building collapse that took place earlier this morning, 13th of May, 2016.

Below is a press release from the Ogun state government concerning the Itoku building collapse which was rumoured to have claimed lives and trapped others in it;

"Ogun State government has confirmed the partial collapse of a four-storey building at Itoku area of Abeokuta.

"The building was still under construction when it caved in, Friday morning.

"However, there are no casualties, while rescue mission is still ongoing.

"The State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, who is presently on the site of the incident, has assured that the cause of the collapse will be investigated, while also asking the good people of Ogun State to remain calm and cooperate with the rescue team.

"The Governor also said integrity test will be conducted on the other part of the building to determine its fitness."
