Daniel Idahosa, the 23-year-old suspect, appeared in an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday for allegedly raping and impregnating a teenager.
Idahosa, who is a popular artist around Ikeja and resident of No. 2, Oshintedo Street, Ogba, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a one-count charge of r*pe.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Benedict Aigbokhan, told the court that the offence was committed at the accused residence on Feb. 14 where the artist who was a trusted and respected man in the area r*ped the little girl.
Aigbokhan said that the victim, a 16-year-old girl, went to the accused residence on that day.
“The accused raped her but she did not tell anyone when she got home,’’ he said.
Aigbokhan said that the victim’s mother got to know when her daughter became sick. He said that when the victim was examined by a medical doctor, she tested positive to pregnancy.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 259 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011. The accused pleaded not guilty.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, granted bail to the accused in the sum of one million naira with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case till June 22 for mention.
