The governance expert shared his experience after Bashir Ahmed, a former aide to President Buhari, lamented that he mistakenly made a payment to the wrong account and the bank has refused to rectify it.
A former Director-General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, Dr Joe Abah, has narrated his encounter after he mistakenly sent money to the wrong beneficiary.
Based on his experience, he advised people to intermittently clean up their beneficiary list to avoid sending money to the wrong person.
The governance expert shared his experience after Bashir Ahmed, a former aide to President Buhari, lamented that he mistakenly made a payment to the wrong account and the bank has refused to rectify it.
Dr Abah wrote: "Normalise cleaning up the beneficiaries list on your banking app from time to time. That was how I wanted to send money to a certain Seidu and mistakenly sent it to another Seidu that I hadn’t spoken with in 10 years.
"I called the bank and they said I needed to go and swear an affidavit. I said “Haba! For N30k?” They asked whether I got the notice that asked if I were sure before I did the transfer. I just hung up on the saucy girl.
"The Seidu that mistakenly got the money never even called me. I called him and he didn’t answer or call back. So, I sent him a message to say 'It wasn’t God that sent you the money o. It was me that sent it by mistake.'
“The useless guy just replied 'Thank you, Sir. I really need am when e come. Na God go bless you.' I just left the money for him and sent it again to the right Seidu.”
