Security operatives of the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Zamfara State have disrupted a ransom payment operation, eliminating several bandits during a raid in Ganuwa forest, Tsafe Local Government Area.
According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the incident occurred on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, when operatives received intelligence about an attempt to deliver ransom money for the release of a kidnapped victim.
The bandits reportedly emerged from their hideout to collect the ransom but ran into the waiting security personnel.
Upon sighting the operatives, the criminals opened fire, leading to a fierce gun battle.
According to the sources, the JTF operatives strategically held their ground, allowing the assailants to expend their ammunition before engaging and neutralizing them.
Two motorcycles and weapons belonging to the bandits were recovered from the scene.
The kidnapped victim was safely rescued and has since been reunited with his family in good health.
