The Supreme Court ordered that the ruling would be in force until Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State stops all his illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional activities.

The 27 lawmakers from Rivers State have celebrated after being reinstated by the Supreme Court on Friday.

According to reports, the pro-Martins Amaewhule and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike’s lawmakers were seen dancing and singing native songs at the Supreme Court in Abuja.

On Friday, the Supreme Court ordered the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, and the Accountant General of the Federation to stop releasing financial allocations to Rivers state government.

The Supreme Court ordered that the ruling would be in force until Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State stops all his illegal, unlawful and unconstitutional activities.

It directed that funds would be released to Fubara’s government until a lawful Appropriation Law is enacted under the Martin Amaewhule Speakership.

The crisis between Wike and Governor Fubara led to the defection from 27 lawmakers from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

Following their defection, their seats were declared vacant while Amaewhule was removed and Oko-Jumbo emerged as Speaker.

But this was contested in court.

However, in its judgment on Friday delivered by Justice Emmanuel Akomaye Agim, the Supreme Court ordered the 27- members of Rivers House of Assembly to resume function immediately.

In a unanimous judgment of the 5-man panel of Justices led by Justice Musa Uwani Aba-Aji, the apex court held that it was an aberration for Fubara to operate with only 4 out of the 32 House of assembly members.
