Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara has announced he has recognized 27 State House of Assembly members.

Recall that the Assembly members are being led by the Speaker, Martin Amaewhule.

For over a year and five months, Fubara declared the seats of the Amaewhule-led lawmakers vacant following their move to dump the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The sacked lawmakers were loyalists of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike.

After a series of litigations and intervention from stakeholders, the crisis remained unresolved but the Supreme Court on Friday reinstated the lawmakers.

During their first plenary session in Port Harcourt on Monday, the lawmakers issued a 48 hours ultimatum to Fubara to re-present the 2025 budget hitherto passed by three lawmakers loyal to him.

There were anxieties as to whether the governor would ignore the ultimatum despite the Supreme Court ruling.

However, the Fubara government while giving reason it may not re-present the budget on Wednesday as demanded, wrote a formal letter to the Amaewhule-led Assembly.

The letter signals his recognition of the pro-Wike lawmakers and obedience to the Supreme Court judgement.
