At least 12 vigilante members have been killed by suspected bandits.
The sad incident happened in Bukkuyum LGA of Zamfara State.
A villager, Nasiru Abubakar told DAILY POST on telephone that the attack took place at about 9:00 am on Wednesday.
Abubakar said that the local vigilante in the area were notified of an attack by the bandits and they mobilize and confronted the gunmen in a bid to rescue abducted members of the community.
He explained that the bandits however laid ambush for the vigilante operatives and killed 12 of them while nine others sustained various degrees of injuries.
Efforts to get comments from the Zamfara State Police Command’s spokesman, ASP Yazeed Abubakar were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
