A Thai woman was previously detained by Japanese authorities for attempting to smuggle cocaine into Japan by ingesting 59 little packets, totaling almost 700 kilos.

According to Pol Maj Gen Phanthana, the cocaine was valued at roughly 2.1 million baht. The woman admitted to detectives that she had dated one of two alleged drug-using Nigerian men in Bangkok.

Thai authorities were contacted by Japanese officials for assistance, and after following the men to the condominium flat, they were apprehended, according to Pol Maj Gen Phanthana.

The inquiry is still ongoing.
