The party reacted to recent claims by El-Rufai that the crises in PDP, Labour Party, and NNPP were instigated and fuelled by APC.

The New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP has slammed the former governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai.

This comes after he claimed that the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, was responsible for its crisis.

The party reacted to recent claims by El-Rufai that the crises in PDP, Labour Party, and NNPP were instigated and fuelled by APC.

Recall that the former Kaduna State governor alleged that APC was behind the internal crises rocking opposition parties.

In a viral video on X on Tuesday, El-Rufai claimed that President Bola Tinubu’s administration was deliberately sponsoring disputes within these parties to weaken their leadership.

Responding in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos, NNPP’s National Chairman, Agbo Major, said the party was compelled to respond to El-Rufai because his comments linking NNPP’s challenges to the APC were misguided.

Major explained that the crisis in the NNPP, which had already been resolved, was caused by the inordinate ambition of some members who disregarded agreements and party rules and regulations.

“El-Rufai’s assertions were inaccurate, based on information he may have gathered from enemies of NNPP’s internal democratic processes.

“The crisis in the NNPP began shortly after the 2023 general elections following the termination of a Memorandum of Understanding that formed a temporary alliance between the NNPP, The National Movement, TNM, and the Kwankwassiya Movement.

“The origins and progression of the disagreement have been made public through various media platforms since 2023,” he said.

The national chairman urged El-Rufai to stay out of NNPP matters, stating that the party is not in opposition to any other, including APC. He added that the primary focus in Nigeria should be the welfare and well-being of all Nigerians, achieved through good governance, hard work, collaboration, and adherence to the rule of law.
