Italian newspaper Il Mattino reports that the man was “unable to extricate himself from the woman due to suction”.
Help arrived in the form of a woman walking alone on the beach in the Marche region of Italy. She handed them a towel as they manoeuvred to the beach - still "as one" - to protect their modesty.
They were taken to hospital and a doctor freed them by administering an injection to dilate the woman's uterus.
