Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, the immediate past Kaduna State governor, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations that he collected N700million from a slush fund former Nigeria's oil minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke deposited at Fidelity Bank.

According to SaharaReporters, EFCC sources revealed that Yero was implicated when two suspects earlier arrested by the anti-corruption agency revealed that he collected N700million from the loot.

The report further revealed that the former governor spent the night at the zonal office of the EFCC where he allegedly confessed to receiving the money.

However, he claimed the money had already been shared with members of the People’s Democratic Party in 23 local government areas of the state for “election logistics”.
