The leadership of the NLC in Ibadan enjoyed a fair success in its industrial strike action which was well supported by labour affiliates.

Public schools in the Ibadan area of Oyo State were shutdown with the students asked to go home following the full compliance of the primary and secondary school teachers with the Nigeria Labour Congress and Trade Union Congress industrial strike which is aimed at an immediate reversal of the increment in the price of petrol from N86.50 per litre to a shocking N145 which is happening at a period when Nigeria is being stricken with a cash crunch.

The civil servants and other officials paraded the streets in protest while school pupils could be seen at various locations aimlessly walking home due to the closure of the schools.
