A local farmer in Nasarawa has been sentenced to 28 months imprisonment for using occult charms to steal a motorcycle.

A 37 year old farmer, Sabiu Salaha, has been sentenced by a Mararaba Grade 1 Area Court, Nasarawa State, on Thursday, to 28 months imprisonment for stealing a motorcycle.

The Judge, Albert Maga, convicted Salaha on a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, using charm and theft, as he admitted committing the offence.

He, however, gave him an option of N10,000 fine, and warned him to desist from committing any further crime.

Maga also ordered the convict to write an undertaking to be of good behaviour and never to commit any offence.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Cpl. Friday Adaji told the court that one Abdulwahab Ishaku of One Man Village, Nasarawa State, reported the matter at the 'A' Division Police Station on June 20.

Adaji said that on the same date, while the complainant was riding his Bajaj motorcycle valued at N114,000, Salaha and one Musa, now at large, stoped him on the road along Guruku, Mararaba.

He said that they drugged him with some herbal medicine and Musa who is at large took the motorcycle to an unknown destination when the complainant fell asleep.

The prosecutor said that Salaha was caught and taken to the station by people around who saw what happened. He noted that the offences contravened sections 97, 217 and 288 of the Penal Code.
