Police Rescue Man Accused Of Motorcycle Theft From Angry Mob In Benue

The incident occurred near Angus Fraser College, Owner Occupier Quarters Extension, Makurdi on Thursday, April 10,, 2025.

A man who was beaten by an angry mob over allegations of theft has been rescued by the Benue State Police Command in Makurdi.
 
The man was accused of trying to rob an Okada rider of his motorcycle.
 
The incident occurred near Angus Fraser College, Owner Occupier Quarters Extension, Makurdi on Thursday, April 10, 2025.
 
According to an eyewitness, vigilant residents spotted the suspect and his two accomplices allegedly attempting to steal the man’s motorcycle and a chase ensued.
 
A witness claimed that while the other two managed to escape with the alleged stolen bike, the suspect wasn't so lucky as he fell.
 
“After a fierce chase, he and his gang fell off the bike, but the other two escaped. He wasn’t so lucky. The mob caught him, beat him to pulp and placed a tyre around his neck. They were about to set him on fire before police arrived,” the source said.
