This meeting came shortly after VeryDarkMan publicly criticized the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for not taking action on the issue. He issued a one-week ultimatum for her to respond.

Nigerian actist, Verydarkman and human rights lawyer Barrister Adeyanju Deji held a meeting with the Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Hajiya Binta Adamu Bello, OON, in a bid to secure the safe return of Nigerian children trafficked to Côte d’Ivoire.

In a post shared on Instagram, accompanied by photos from the meeting, Verydarkman wrote:

“In the quest of bringing back the trafficked children from Ivory Coast, myself and Barr @adeyanjudeji had an important meeting with the DG of NAPTIP, Hajiya Binta Adamu Bello, OON, who was so compassionate about the whole situation surrounding how those underage children were sold for s3xual pleasures amongst other dehumanizing purposes.

She responded not just as the DG of NAPTIP but as a mother who has birthed children and knows what it really means to be a mother. She was alongside the newly appointed chairman of the board of NAPTIP, Comrade Mustapha Salihu, and other members.

It was a fruitful meeting, and the processes to get the children back to their families and loved ones are being put in place—not just for these victims alone but for all trafficked persons who have suffered from this evil movement.”

This meeting came shortly after VeryDarkMan publicly criticized the Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, for not taking action on the issue. He issued a one-week ultimatum for her to respond.

Dabiri-Erewa later addressed the situation on her X (formerly Twitter) account, clarifying that matters of human trafficking fall under NAPTIP’s jurisdiction, not NIDCOM’s. She emphasized the importance of directing such concerns to the appropriate authorities for proper handling.
