According to a post on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama via his official handle on X, the tragic incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on April 24, along Maiduguri Road.
Yahaya Isma’il Idris, an officer of the Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), tragically lost his life after being pushed from a moving truck in the early hours of Thursday within Kano metropolis.
According to a post on Friday by security analyst Zagazola Makama via his official handle on X, the tragic incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. on April 24, along Maiduguri Road.
Idris, aged 35, was on night duty when he stopped a truck with registration number BWR 457 XC, loaded with goods.
The truck was driven by Yakubu Abdulsalam, 25, from Fika Local Government Area in Yobe State. Two other passengers were onboard;Tunde Momodu, 31, from Edo State, and Sagir Yusuf, 21, from Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State.
Makama stated that Idris requested to see the waybill for the goods being transported.
When the driver failed to produce one, the KAROTA officer reportedly boarded the truck to conduct further inspection.
However, moments later, the driver allegedly sped off with Idris still inside. As they approached the Muhammadu Buhari Interchange flyover, the suspects reportedly pushed the officer out of the moving vehicle.
Idris sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, where he was later confirmed dead.
Police sources confirmed the arrest of the driver and the two passengers.
“Investigation is ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident,” one officer revealed to Makama.
