In her second verse of the song, which sampled Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige’s 2000 hit ‘911,’ Starr shared that a lot of men watch her for the wrong reasons, but she knows how to flip that gaze into power.

Oyinkansola Sarah Aderibigbe, the famous Afrobeats singer, popularly known as Ayra Starr, has shared that she doesn’t wish for her mother to listen to the second verse of her new collaboration with Wizkid, ‘Gimme Dat,’ where she commanded a man to let her “survey” his private parts.

In her second verse of the song, which sampled Wyclef Jean and Mary J. Blige’s 2000 hit ‘911,’ Starr shared that a lot of men watch her for the wrong reasons, but she knows how to flip that gaze into power.

“So many people wan lick my stew, so baby chill make I survey your tools… and if I handle your 2 by 2, you fit to scream, you go lose your cool,”
she sings.

The verse instantly caught the attention of listeners. While many commended her artistry, others criticised her delivery on the verse as being “too raw”.

Ayra Starr herself shared on her X handle on Saturday that he doesn’t want her mother to listen to the controversial verse.

She wrote, “Hopefully my mom never listens to my second verse.”
