FG Issues Sack Threat to Teachers Over New Regulation

The Federal Government has threatened to sack any teacher that disobeys its latest directive over a new regulation it will soon introduce.

The Federal Government on Friday revealed that it would soon introduce a new regulation that would enable teachers update their skills in relevant areas of teaching every two years.
 
According to the Minister of State for Education, Prof Anthony Onwukah, any teacher who failed to obey the directive after the expiration of the two years moratorium would be sacked.
 
Onwukah disclosed this in Abuja while speaking during the annual conference of the Nigerian Academy of Education. He further revealed that all teachers would be given the opportunity to partake in it.
 
The theme of the conference was, “Teacher education in Nigeria, challenges and reforms.”
 
Also, revealed that the new regulation is part of the reforms introduced by the new administration and must be obeyed by all and sundry.
 
He said, “We want to ensure that no untrained teacher in whatever circumstance or place should be allowed into any Nigerian classroom whether primary, secondary or tertiary."
