A farmer identified as Idris Salisu Danwanzan, has raised alarm after his cassava farm was allegedly destroyed by herdsmen in Kokona Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

Danwanzan, who shared his frustration in a Facebook post on Wednesday, said he had not visited the farm in a month and was devastated to return and find it ravaged.

“You’d be surprised if I told you that it’s my cassava farm. After a month’s visit, this is what I saw. I can’t even estimate how much I spent,” he wrote, adding, “Any herdsmen responsible for this, Allah sai yasaka mini [may God repay them].”

The extent of the damage has not been officially assessed but Danwanzan indicated that he had invested significant time and money into the cultivation of the farm, which is now destroyed.

This incident adds to growing tensions between farmers and herders in parts of Nigeria, particularly in the Middle Belt, where clashes over farmland and grazing routes have become increasingly common.

In a separate but related incident, tragedy struck Akpam Village 2 in Karu Local Government Area, also in Nasarawa State, where two young men were reportedly killed by suspected Fulani herdsmen.

According to reports, the victims—aged 23 and 24—were attacked after trying to prevent herders from allowing their cattle to eat mango tree leaves near their home. The confrontation allegedly escalated, resulting in a fatal knife attack.
