Taskforce Arrests 44 Suspected Criminals In Lagos Island

The coordinated raid covered several key locations, including Falomo Bridge, Oyin Jolayemi, Eko Hotel Roundabout, Ligali Ayorinde, Oniru Beach and the 1004 area.


Forty-four individuals, including a female suspected of criminal activity during an operation conducted on Lagos Island, have been arrested by the Lagos State Environmental Task Force.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, said the operation was part of ongoing efforts to rid the city of criminal elements.

The coordinated raid covered several key locations, including Falomo Bridge, Oyin Jolayemi, Eko Hotel Roundabout, Ligali Ayorinde, Oniru Beach and the 1004 area.

According to Wahab, the suspects are currently in custody and will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

He wrote;

''In continuation of  the agency's clean up  enforcement operation to rid the State of criminal elements, the Lagos State Environmental Taskforce team set out at about 2a.m during the wee hours on Thursday, 1st May, 2025 and embarked  on its clean up enforcement operation on Lagos Island.

The areas visited during  the operation includes; Falomo bridge, Oyin jolayemi, Eko Hotel roundabout, Ligali Ayorinde, Oniru Beach and 1004 areas where the presence of some undesirable elements was noticed.
 
During the raid exercise, a total number of 43 male and 1 female suspects were arrested, and sanity was restored in all the areas.

All the Suspects will be charged to court accordingly.''
