Samklef was quick to call Davido out when the singer was noticeably absent from a protest linked to the cause.

Nigerian music producer, Samklef has lambasted Afrobeats star, Davido for throwing his weight behind social media critic, VeryDarkMan, who is in the custody of the EFCC.

Although Davido had shown online support for the #FreeVeryDarkMan movement with a retweet just the day before, Samklef was quick to call him out when the singer was noticeably absent from a protest linked to the cause.

“People wey suppose go protest for am dey warm eba chop lol I been think say Davido wan go help am?” he tweeted.

In another, more direct swipe, he wrote:

“Clout currency!”

Samklef didn’t stop there. He made it clear he wasn't exactly championing the #FreeVeryDarkMan cause either.

“EFCC no Dey work with emotions! This same VDM that once said he would help Davido ‘kpiá’ me—some Nigerian youths are just too gullible and biased.

He can’t even call out certain people. VDM is facing his own karma now. What you do to others will eventually be done to you. Same person wey attack Igbo business men.”

“EFCC or whoever picked VDM up—will release him once they’re done with him. Simple.

He chose this path, and he has to face everything that comes with it.

You wan be messiah? Every messiah must face the cross.

No be only crown dey come with the calling—sometimes na cuffs too.

SAMKLEF NONI!”
