Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor demanded an explanation in a statement issued via X on Monday.

Nnamdi Kanu’s Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor has demanded an explanation after the Department of State Services, DSS blocked the Biafra agitator from accessing his lead Counsel, Kanu Agabi.

The legal team of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB demanded answers in a statement issued via X on Monday.

Agabi had attempted to visit Kanu at the DSS facility in Abuja but was prevented from gaining access to him.

However, Ejimakor described the action of DSS as a flagrant interference with fair trial.

Ejimakor wrote: “The @OfficialDSSNG needs to explain to Nigerians why it blocked Chief Kanu Agabi, SAN from meeting with his Client MAZI NNAMDI KANU.

“They did this a few minutes ago & the high Chief has left the DSS facility, very upset. This is a flagrant interference with fair trial. #Injustice.”

Kanu has been in DSS holding cell since he was rearrested and subjected to extraordinary rendition from Kenya to Nigeria in June 2021.

Since his return, the Appeal court in Abuja had discharged and acquitted him of all treasonable felony charges but the Nigerian government had refused to sanction his release.

A few months ago, Justice Binta Nyako of the Abuja Federal High Court had stepped down from Kanu’s trial after much back and forth.

The matter was reassigned to Justice James Omotosho of the same court. Under Omotosho, the Nigerian government had slammed terrorism charges on the IPOB leader.

Currently, the prosecution is presenting its witnesses who have been testifying against Kanu.
