Osun Assembly Endorses Governor Adeleke for Second Term

Presiding over the session, Speaker Adewale Egbedun praised the governor’s achievements in celebration of his 65th birthday.

 
Governor Ademola Adeleke has been endorsed by the Osun State House of Assembly for a second term ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial election in the state.
 
Information gathered revealed that the motion for the vote of confidence was initiated by Adewumi Adeyemi, representing the Obokun State Constituency and seconded by Taofiq Olayiwola from Ede South State Constituency.
 
The endorsement was made during a plenary session on Tuesday, where the 26-member Assembly, comprised of 25 members from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and one from the All Progressives Congress, APC, expressed their full support for the governor.
 
Presiding over the session, Speaker, Adewale Egbedun praised the governor’s achievements in celebration of his 65th birthday.
 
He commended the governor for his dedication to the development of Osun State, highlighting his impactful governance and commitment to his five-point agenda.
 
The Speaker emphasised that the lawmakers, as representatives of the people, took pride in the governor’s leadership and urged him to continue striving for even greater accomplishments.
 
While inviting his colleagues to share their thoughts on the endorsement, Simeon Popoola, representing the Boripe-Boluwaduro State Constituency, delivered a heartfelt tribute to the governor, praising his integrity and genuine nature.
 
He said, “Politics aside, Mr Governor is a plain-minded personality, loving and genuine. These attributes have greatly assisted him in his performance.”
 
Following the motion, the Speaker called for a vote, which the chamber upheld.
