Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo has denied rumours alleging that his visit to calabar crippled vehicular movements in the city, as reported by online media...
Following earlier reports that the visit of Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo to Calabar, the capital of Cross River State brought the city to a lockdown for about 10 hours thereby denying residents from going about their normal daily activities, the vice president's aide has denied the reports.
In a statement released by Osinbajo's media aide, Laolu Akande, he stated that "Claims that the town was in a lock down because of his visit is just another mischievous and baseless report from some of the same social media quarters that misled the nation in the past about his purported exclusion from security meetings".
Akande also noted that the Vice President was well received by the people of the state who he said went about their normal businesses successfully.
"Prof Osinbajo was well received in Calabar witnessed by the warmth shown him and his delegation by the people and government of Cross River State.
"The Vice President did not even spend ten hours in Calabar and could not have locked down the town, as his convoy moved freely among the people in regular traffic as he normally does", Akande added.
The VP was a keynote speaker and special guest of honor at the occasion of the 10th Memorial Anniversary of the first High Court judge of the then South Eastern State, Justice Peter Odo Effiong Bassey, held at the University of Calabar.
