Popular comedian, Acapella has opened up that he received several threats for slamming Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab.
He had tackled Wahab over his reaction to claims that Lagos is smelling.
Recall that it all started after popular influencer Scott Iguma, in a viral video, claimed that Lagos smells and is filled with “big mosquitoes”.
In a sharp rebuttal, Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, alleged that that some individuals who migrate to Lagos from other states in search of better opportunities are deliberately trying to tarnish the image of the state, accusing them of leveraging social media to “propagate harmful narratives” and undermine the state’s progress.
Reacting, Acapella accused the commissioner of applying double standards based on ethnicity and origin.
This led to heated social media exchanges between the comedian and supporters of the Lagos State Government.
Acapella revealed via his X handle on Tuesday that he received several threats during his fallout with the commissioner.
He wrote, “Over The Past days, As expected, Ive received several DMs and Few Calls making empty treats here and there. But, let me make it clear, that No Nigerian Is More Nigerian Than Any Other Nigerian. Don’t let anybody gaslight you into believing you are de marketing the country; especially when you point out the ills that befalls us as a Nation.
“The first step to solving any problem is to first identify there’s one. We are all we have. I hope with these few points of mine. I rest my case for now.”
