Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State has stated that he cannot completely rule out the possibility of some repentant Boko Haram members returning to the bush to resume armed activities.

Zulum stated this while speaking in an interview on News Central Television’s Breakfast Show, noting that some of the repentant terrorusts still serve as informants.

The governor however stated that about 90 percent of repentant Boko Haram terrorists were doing well and are not participating in the ongoing terrorism.

He suggested that proper non-kinetic measures should be adequately put in place to tackle terrorism in the country.

He said: “I can’t completely say that hundred percent of those who surrendered are doing the right thing. And I want to assure you that 90 percent of them are doing well and are not participating in the ongoing terrorism.

“Let me tell you, insurgency can never be ended by kinetic measures alone. We must ensure that proper non kinetic measures are adequately put in place.

“What I mean by the non kinetic measures are the socio economic and political dimensions of the crisis. Our own non kinetic measures have yielded positive results, with the support of the Nigerian military.

“Yes, I believe that among the 300,000 or more that have repented, I cannot rule out the possibility of few of them going back to the bush.”
