Man Sentenced to 12-months Imprisonment For Stealing Cables From Lagos Water Treatment Plant

Oyewunmi faced a three-count charge on Conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, Wilful damage to government property, and Theft of government property.

 
A Nigerian man, Sodiq Oyewunmi has been sentenced to twelve months’ imprisonment.
 
He was convicted for stealing electrical cables from the Oke Afa Wastewater Treatment Plant, an essential public facility under the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO). 
 
He was apprehended on-site by plant officials and arraigned before the Lagos State Taskforce Environmental and Special Offences Court.
 
Oyewunmi faced a three-count charge on Conduct likely to cause a breach of peace, Wilful damage to government property, and Theft of government property.
 
When the charges were read to him, he pleaded guilty to the first and third charges and was convicted accordingly.
