A military aircraft sent to offer protection to security operatives has mistakenly bombed local vigilantes.
This is according to information released on Monday.
The incident happened after more than 20 farmers were killed and over 50 villagers kidnapped following a deadly bandit attack on Mani community in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
The incident, which occurred over the weekend, was revealed in a post on Monday by security analyst Bakatsine on X.
According to his post, a military aircraft deployed for protection during the attack mistakenly fired local vigilantes, adding to the tragedy.
Bakatsine wrote, “Yesterday, bandits attacked Mani community of Maru LGA in Zamfara and killed over 20 farmers. More than 50 persons are still in captivity. A military aircraft that came for protection mistakenly fired on vigilantes.”
The Zamfara State Government and security agencies are yet to release an official statement on the incident.
