Nigerian comic actor Okon has stirred reactions online with a viral TikTok video in which he advised men not to lose their identity while trying to impress women, likening such efforts to attempting to outshine God Himself.
In the clip, Okon draws a controversial parallel using the 48 Laws of Power, saying: “One of the 48 laws of power is that you should not try to outshine your master.”
He went on to list several beauty practices women engage in, suggesting that their constant changes reflect a level of dissatisfaction that men shouldn't try to keep up with.
He said: “If the hair is coily, they stretch it. If it’s straight, they curl it.
"If it’s black, they dye it white. If it’s white, they dye it black — sometimes pink.
"Eyebrows? Natural o, they shave am, draw another one.
"Eyelashes? Fix on top the one wey God give them.
"Thin lips? Surgery. Big breast? Reduction.
"Small breast? Implant. No nyash? Implant. Big nyash? Reduction.
"Black skin? Bleaching cream. Fair skin? Sun tanning.”
He ended the video with: “If God wey create them never satisfy them, how much more you, ordinary person? You wan out do God? You dey try outshine your master? You dey set yourself up for destruction.”
The video has since gained traction on social media, with many users agreeing, debating, and dissecting his message.
