Eyewitnesses reported that the armed assailants invaded the community in the early hours of the morning, firing indiscriminately at residents.
A 75-year-old resident of Benue State, Mr Iorkohol Dabu, was shot and seriously injured on Tuesday during an attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the Udei community, located in Nyiev Council Ward of Guma Local Government Area.
Eyewitnesses reported that the armed assailants invaded the community in the early hours of the morning, firing indiscriminately at residents.
Mr Dabu was struck during the attack and is currently receiving treatment for severe gunshot wounds.
Images obtained from the scene depict the aftermath of the violence, with bullet holes visible in iron doors and shattered glass windows, indicating the intensity of the assault, according to reports by Citizen Television.
As of the time of filing this report, security agencies have not issued an official statement, and no arrests have been made.
