In a statement signed by Bassey Akpanyung, the permanent secretary, Ministry of Interior, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Abuja, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Mohammed Babandede as the new Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).
Until his appointment, Mr. Babandede was a Deputy Comptroller-General at the Nigeria Immigration Service Headquarters.
Mr. Babandede replaces Martin Abeshi, who retired last week from the Service at the end of his tenure.
The statement said that the appointment of Mr. Babandede is to take effect from May 15, 2016.
