According to the clergyman, the Federal Government should admit that its security system is failing and should allow Nigerians to defend themselves.

Popular cleric, Apostle Johnson Suleman, has asked Nigerians in Benue state to defend themselves.

This followed the massacre of over 200 persons in the state over the weekend.

According to the clergyman, the Federal Government should admit that its security system is failing and should allow Nigerians to defend themselves.

He stated this in a post on X on Sunday.

“If the federal government knows it’s overwhelmed or its security architecture has failed, they should be humble enough to tell the citizens,” he wrote.

He reminded Nigerians that self-defense is a constitutional right, especially when the government cannot protect lives and property.

“Self-defense is enshrined in the constitution. I said it when I went to Jos and Benue. We can’t watch this to continue.”

Addressing the people of Benue directly, Apostle Suleman urged them not to wait helplessly.

“People of Benue, defend yourself. What is happening in Benue State is evil, barbaric, and a mayhem.”

He also criticized political leaders who are already thinking about the 2027 elections while citizens are being killed in 2025.

“It’s ridiculous that people are thinking of 2027 whilst mayhem is being unleashed in 2025 on citizens they are supposed to govern. What happened to your humanity?”

Suleman ended his post with a painful reflection: “There was a country…” indicating his sadness over the state of the country.
