Solar Panel Vandal Apprehended In Abia Community While Selling Stolen Item

Vigilante operatives in Otampa Autonomous Community, Isuikwuato Local Government Area of Abia State, have apprehended a male suspect for allegedly vandalizing and stealing a solar-powered streetlight belonging to a neighboring village.

The suspect, simply identified as Ifeanyi, an indigene of Amaoho, Amaba in the same LGA, was nabbed by the Otamkpa community security personnel while trying to sell the stolen public property at meagre N5,000.

His accomplice, one Mr Onyebuchi Amadi, an indigene of Amaogudu Otamkpa in Isuikwuato local government area, was also arrested while negotiating to pay for the stolen solar power panel.

A community source in Otamkpa told Daily Post that the arrested vandal has been handed over to authorities, adding that Amaba indigenes have reported the matter to the police for comprehensive investigation and appropriate actions.

Some indigenes of Otamkpa who spoke on the matter, praised the community vigilante team for being alive to responsibility, saying that the arrest was a major victory against criminal elements who vandalize and sell public infrastructure.

They commended the security outfit for maintaining maturity by not resorting to jungle justice on the suspects as could have been the case in some communities in the country.
