Osimhen was hit in the face by an Inter Milan defender as he tried to head the ball.

Super Eagles attacker, Victor Osimhen has recounted his near-death experience during Napoli’s Serie A game against Inter Milan in 2021.

Speaking to Daddy Freeze in an interview, he revealed that all the bones on his face was broken after the collision with Skriniar

“All the bones on my face were broken,” he said, talking about the collision with Škriniar.

The incident left the Nigerian forward with severe fractures to his cheekbone and eye socket, requiring urgent surgery.

The striker stayed away from football for weeks and he has continued to wear a protective face mask during matches.

“I was looking blank until their goalkeeper touched me – that was when I knew I was alive. It was a near-death injury,” he said.

“I never knew the injury was that bad.

“Then, they did an X-ray, not even an MRI. The doctor came and said I had to do surgery, as quickly as possible.

“He said they will go through my jaw and I cannot hit there for the rest of my life,” Osimhen explained.

“So I asked him what’s the risk [of not wearing the masks) and he said, ‘if you get the same hit again, you’re done.’

Osimhen is yet to decide his next destination despite interest from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester United, Liverpool, Juventus, and Galatasaray.
