BREAKING News: Senate Summons CBN Governor & Finance Minister After MPC Decision

The Nigerian senate has summoned the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria and the minister of finance after the CBN monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting which gave birth to a flexible exchange rate policy in the country.

The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been summoned by the Nigerian senate to appear before its plenary, less than 24 hours after the bank’s monetary policy committee (MPC) meeting.
 
The Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, has also been asked by the lawmakers to appear before the upper chamber of the National Assembly, at a yet-to-be disclosed date.
 
We had reported it yesterday that the CBN Governor disclosed that the Monetary Policy Committee of the apex bank had directed the management to adopt a flexible exchange rate policy, adding that with the directive, the apex bank would within the next few days release a new guideline on the management of foreign exchange in the country.
