Constance Kawa Yenda, a native of Gembu in the Mambilla Plateau region of Taraba State, has refuted widespread claims that women from her tribe use a traditional soup prepared with Kumbi leaves to spiritually bind men.

Kumbi is a well-liked, luscious, and nourishing vegetable soup that is indigenous to the Gembu people.

“I want to set the record straight as a real GEMBU BAE. I've heard people saying that Gembu ladies use 'Kumbi' to tie down their men. But let me tell you, Kumbi is not a charm!,” she wrote in a Facebook post on Friday.

"It's actually our traditional soup, and it's delicious," she wrote. Kumbi is a popular vegetable soup gotten from Gembu, a local government in Taraba

"Y’all if not a fake life, why will a GEMBU lady be eating cow meat when our almighty KUMBI is the real cow Itself.

"I know some of you might be thinking, “So, the men agreed to be tied down?” But seriously, Gembu ladies are amazing! They're loving, caring, demure, mindful, respectful, So peaceful And hardworking. Sorry our Hips don’t lie. See weather and we look fresh always like hot fresh agege Bread.

“So, let's stop the misconception about our tribal vegetable being used as a charm. It's time to give credit where credit is due. Gembu ladies, you're the real MVPs!  All the local tribes in village eat KUMBI.”
