Becky had claimed she had never been in a relationship — a statement reportedly made to secure a date with Asherkine.

Media personality and former BBNaija star, Tacha, has taken to Twitter to slam critics amid the ongoing controversy surrounding a viral video of Nigerian influencer Asherkine and a female fan.

Becky had claimed she had never been in a relationship — a statement reportedly made to secure a date with Asherkine.

Becky’s claim was later challenged by a man who claims to have been her boyfriend for two years. In a twist that has sparked conversations across social media, the man released a chat purportedly between himself and Becky, where she allegedly told him she had travelled to see her mother — a cover-up, he claims, for her outing with Asherkine.

Becky however, firmly denied knowing the individual behind the viral claims. She insisted that the name being used to spread the alleged lies does not even reflect her real identity.

“I do not know this boy,” she stated, adding, “I have never had a boyfriend before and nothing will change my statement.”

Reacting to the issue in a video shared on Instagram, Tacha compared online trolls to the "wicked aunties and uncles" African parents used to warn about, saying, “They’re no longer in the village, they’re all on Twitter Nigeria.”

She criticised how people took a harmless moment from Asherkine’s video and twisted it into a negative narrative, fabricating fake chats and claims just to drag the woman in the clip.

Tacha went on to say the issue blew up because, in her words, “The average Nigerian man sees Nigerian women as gold diggers,” which is why many believed and pushed a false story about the girl allegedly denying her boyfriend because of money.

She urged the woman involved to take legal action and called on the public to stop tearing people down online out of boredom or bitterness.

“The wicked people our parents warned us about are now online… Twitter influencers, bloggers – all of them,”
she added.
