An unidentified man has been apprehended in the state capital of Yobe, Damaturu on Thursday, June 25, 2015, following a tip-off from residents that he was spying for Boko Haram.
A spy working for the dreaded Boko Haram sect has been captured in Yobe State after he was caught spying on an Internally Displaced People’s (IDP) camp.
The unidentified suspect was apprehended in the state capital, Damaturu on Thursday, June 25, 2015, following a tip-off from residents.
“We arrested him. He claimed to be a Ghanaian who came from a nearby village,” a source told Daily Trust.
“We took him to the JTF headquarters for interrogation where he confessed to be a Boko Haram member spying on the area,” the source added.
Residents of the area reported that they had seen a strange man lurking in the area in the morning.
“Nobody knew him in the area and we became suspicious of him,” another source said.
Boko Haram has been blamed for many attacks in the state including a suicide bombing in Gujba on Tuesday, June 23, which claimed 10 lives.
