Police React to Reports It Sealed Off PDP Secretariat

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has debunked claims that it sealed off the national headquarters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abuja.
 
This followed reports on Monday that security operatives had taken over the Wadata Plaza premises in Wuse Zone 5. But the police said the narrative is false and misleading.
 
In a statement issued by spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh, the command explained that officers were only deployed to the area to maintain law and order.
 
“At no time was the Secretariat sealed off by the Police,” she stated.
 
She said the presence of security personnel was a preventive move, in line with the command’s duty to protect lives and property.
 
The FCT Commissioner of Police also advised journalists to verify all sensitive information with the Police Public Relations Office before publishing.
