How Troops Arrested Two Armed Men In Benue

The suspects, identified as 42-year-old Mr. Felix Agbako, a farmer from Abiam Village in Gwer East Local Government Area, and Mr. Tsekaa Kyaan, also 42, a driver from Tse-Adam Village in Makurdi LGA, were arrested along key entry and exit routes into Makurdi, the state capital, on Thursday, 3rd July 2025.

Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) achieved a major breakthrough as a combined security team intercepted and arrested two suspected armed individuals during a routine anti-criminal patrol in Benue State.

The suspects, identified as 42-year-old Mr. Felix Agbako, a farmer from Abiam Village in Gwer East Local Government Area, and Mr. Tsekaa Kyaan, also 42, a driver from Tse-Adam Village in Makurdi LGA, were arrested along key entry and exit routes into Makurdi, the state capital, on Thursday, 3rd July 2025. 
 
The joint operation, aimed at dismantling illegal checkpoints and disrupting the movement of criminal elements within the Area of Responsibility (AOR), led to the recovery of a cache of arms. 
 
Items recovered from the suspects included one AK-47 rifle and a loaded magazine containing 7.62mm special ammunition, all concealed inside a blue Toyota Camry vehicle with registration number Lagos FST 733 GL. 
 
The successful interception was conducted under the leadership of Captain Miri-Dashe of the 401 Special Forces Brigade, with support from Captain Iyamba. 
 
The operation also featured operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS), Keystone personnel, and officers from the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC). 
 
The suspects and recovered items have been taken into custody for further investigation, pending directives from the appropriate security authorities. 
 
Reacting to the development, the Force Commander, Operation WHIRL STROKE, Major General Moses Kolo Gara, commended the dedication and swift response of the joint security team. 
 
He reiterated OPWS’s commitment to denying criminal elements any safe haven within Benue State and the region at large. 
 
The Force Commander also expressed appreciation to the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, and the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, for their continued support in providing operational resources that enhance OPWS’s mission to safeguard lives and property.
