Rapper Ice Prince has lamented disrespect in the music industry.

He complained of artists disrespecting him, even with all he has done for the industry.

Ice Prince spoke during a revealing conversation on the Tea With Tay podcast.

Speaking with host Taymesan, Ice Prince made some bold assertions, including being the first African artist to ever step on the BET Awards stage to receive a trophy.

“The first African artist to go on a BET stage and collect the BET award. Selfless credit here,”
he said. “I am one of the only artists probably in the world that left his record label with no drama.”

Taymesan pressed him on that last point, asking if he meant there was drama with the other two major artists from Chocolate City—referring to artists like Brymo and M.I.

“Pretty much there was drama with everybody. You just hear some drama.”

When the host specifically mentioned Brymo’s controversial exit from Chocolate City, Ice Prince replied:

“I’ve done so many stuff for Nigeria, for Africa, but people always disrespect or sleep on me. I don’t make music for accolades or for respect. You see all these titles like ‘legend,’ ‘king,’ ‘OG’—I don’t even like them, like at all. You know what I’m saying? So for me, music is beyond the accolades or the awards that come with it.”
